Memorial for Brian von KleinSmid

A place to recall & share all the good times

One Fine Fellow

Brian was friend and a man I personally admired in many ways. Having had the pleasure of working with him for several years now I can honesty say he was a dedicated employee, an individual who valued the worth of being on time, a tireless worker bee and a just plain good guy. There is so much to say about his work ethic…but this is not the place. I think next to work that the FrankenPinto of his was his next biggest point of focus. He would bring in pictures and stories about what he was planning next for that piece of work like he was creating a Michelangelo masterpiece. The first time I ever saw it I turned to him and asked if anyone got hurt in that wreck. The look on his face was priceless as it was apparent that he didn’t agree with my take on his project. I never called it a wreck again. It was obviously beautiful to him.

But if he was a good employee and a tireless car buff, that is only the smallest part of the Brian story. The better story of Brian is and has always been the “blond brigade” as he always referred to his family. Whenever he spoke of his wife, it was with reverence, respect and the obvious love he so deeply felt for her. He never spoke a disparaging word about her and always acted like he was surprised he got so lucky in life. He was as proud of his marriage as any man I have ever met. And then there are the children…wow, what can one say about Brian and the kids that wasn’t written on his face whenever they were around? He was the ultimate loving Dad. Bragging on their deeds and doting on their next moves; always glad to discuss their grades, health, habits and personalities as they grew up. Pictures on the desk and in his back pack, Brian was always happiest talking about his family. He was a family man in the truest sense. They were blessed to have him, although he would have argued the point and said it was the other way around.

Good night Brian. May the Heavenly Host who received you hold you tight.
